Supporting the Brain Tumour Foundation of Canada

At Tumor Takedown, we're proud to direct 100% of our proceeds to the **Brain Tumour Foundation of Canada (BTFC)**, a national non-profit organization dedicated to conquering brain tumours through research, education, and support. Founded in 1982 in response to the heartbreaking loss of 8-year-old Kelly Northey to a brain tumour, BTFC was established by her father Steve Northey, neurosurgeon Dr. Rolando Del Maestro, and neuroscience nurse Pamela Del Maestro. What began as a way to turn personal grief into hope has grown into a vital lifeline for thousands across Canada.

Their vision? A world where no family faces this journey alone, backed by groundbreaking research and compassionate resources.

What BTFC Does to Make a Difference

The foundation's work

is hands-on and far-reaching:

- **Funding Research**: Since 1982, BTFC has raised over $10 million for brain tumour research, including sole support for the Brain Tumour Tissue Bank. This funding has led to innovations like more precise radiation treatments, shorter therapy times, fewer chemotherapy side effects, and better quality of life after surgery.

- **Support Networks**: A nationwide network of in-person and online support groups helps patients, survivors, and families connect and cope.

- **Education and Resources**: Free handbooks for adults, children, caregivers, and those with non-malignant tumours; a children's storybook to explain brain tumours in age-appropriate ways; and a toll-free helpline for immediate information and emotional support.

- **The Brain Tumour Registry of Canada**: Launched in 2019 in partnership with Dr. Faith Davis, this initiative tracks data to accelerate research and improve outcomes.

Over 55,000 Canadians living with brain tumours have benefited from these efforts, proving that collective action creates real change.
